They're aiming for 100,000 wafer starts per month at full scale, which is more than half of the total capacity of the entire world's chip production. Tesla's full self-driving software just crossed 8 billion miles of real-world driving data. They logged a billion miles in just the first 50 days of 2026 alone. There's a data flywheel that no competitor can match because no competitor has millions of vehicles on the road collecting data 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year. Tesla produced about 1.8 million vehicles last year and has the capacity to go well beyond that. Overall, this points to specialized systems and vertically integrated players shaping what comes next far more than surface narratives suggest.
