Farzad: Uber Is Cooked. Own the Stack.

Farzad said the AI winners will own the full stack (power, chips, model, distribution), called SpaceX plus Terafab the hardware side of that bet, and argued Uber is cooked if it teams with driver unions to slow robotaxis while Tesla can manufacture and run Cybercabs on its own network. He also posted that Terafab needs more EUV machines than Earth has, that Starlink pays for Starship then repeats, and Cybercab first-ride / design-to-packaging clips as Tesla psychos land in Austin.

Own the stack: Jensen open models → SpaceX hardware

Farzad, Sep 3: Great move by Jensen. Winners in AI own the entire stack — power + chips + model + distribution. Once models commoditize (he says Fable token usage as a share of total is already not really moving), the value accrues to the hardest hardware that powers the systems. SpaceX is incredibly well positioned, and he says it is probably inevitable they become a primary supplier for NVIDIA chips with Terafab. OpenAI and Anthropic are in SUPER delicate positions — especially OpenAI; Sam is making too many enemies. Tickers in the post: $NVDA $SPCX. Uber + unions vs Tesla Robotaxi

FT, Sep 2: Uber allies with driver unions in a bid to slow robotaxi rollout. Farzad quote-tweeted: how does Uber compete when they are already partnering with driver’s unions to slow AV rollouts, which keeps cost per mile higher via human labor vs fully autonomous cars? How does Uber avoid wrecking its network effect by undercutting human drivers to stay competitive with vertically integrated AV providers like Tesla, especially when other vehicle providers have a fraction of Tesla’s scale?

Separately he asked why Uber is trying to slow autonomous-car adoption, said Cybercab’s Austin ramp vs Waymo and Uber will be carnage when a company owns the means of production and can manufacture at will, and framed Tesla laying an airline-style model for Robotaxi — fleets buy the cars and run them on a proprietary network, with shells customized over time. To Kyle Reidhead: Uber giving Tesla cash to buy Cybercabs to destroy their own network effect ain’t gonna work; those cars won’t run on Uber — they’ll have to go on the Robotaxi network so Tesla can earn per-mile.
