Makers vs consumers + US/China alignment

Farzad, Sep 12 morning CT: the battle for AI control is fundamentally about people who make things vs people who consume things; makers love AI for leverage; consumers see income threat (don’t want to / too cowardly / don’t think they can build); politicians weaponize the second group via wipe-humanity fears; next 2 years extremely hectic as models improve. Separately: Will the US and China successfully align frontier AI development for the betterment of humanity? Then: Dario, Sam, and Elon all publicly agree frontier AI development should be slowed down; question becomes how the US gains alignment with China, how much of the upcoming summit is used for that, and whether it’s even possible.
