Like the body, the hands are designed with high fidelity simulation in mind, to enable sim-to-real RL. If you give dexterous hands to a robot, make them do (per albertorod; API text truncates).

Farzad liked elonmusk (posted Oct 1, ~2:51 PM CT): We cut our RAM in half for the Tesla AI5 chip (now 72GB of LP5) and 1/3 for AI6 (now 144GB of LP6). This was the only way to get enough volume for Optimus production and greatly reduces cost. As it turns out, we think this will have a negligible effect on Optimus performance, as memory bandwidth is a bigger limiting factor than total memory storage (bandwidth was held constant) (per elonmusk).

Farzad RTd DavidMoss, Oct 1 evening CT: Gotta give props to Tesla Robotaxi today. It's absolutely pouring/bad storm all day long here in Austin, TX and I haven't seen the service down once. Before they would have immediately shut it off even if a storm was in the forecast (per DavidMoss).
