Farzad: "Universal Basic Capital Has Arrived" + Elon Says He Will Give One SpaceX Share to Every Kid in America + Tesla Sets Dec 3 Shareholder Meeting
Elon said early Monday that next year he will give one of his SpaceX shares to every kid in America. Hours earlier, Farzad had labeled Elon's plan to give shares directly to the public as Universal Basic Capital. SawyerMerritt laid out the Dec 3 Tesla shareholder meeting ballot, and ChrisCamillo made his case for the Roadster demo.
"Every kid in America"
Elon, Oct 19 at 2:52am CT: Next year, I will give one of my SpaceX shares to every kid in America. This will be the first of many.
Farzad RTd it at 7:35am CT. He also liked the post.
KobeissiLetter, Oct 19 at 7:17am CT: BREAKING: Elon Musk says he will donate one share of SpaceX stock, $SPCX, to every American child in 2027. The post put the count at about 73 million US children and SpaceX at $146 a share. On that basis, it valued the donation at $10.7 billion at the current share price. Farzad RTd it at 8:20am CT. He also liked the post.
The 73 million, $146 and $10.7 billion figures come from KobeissiLetter. The multiplication holds up, and both inputs check out: the 2020 Census counted 73.1 million Americans under 18, and SpaceX closed at $146.03 on Friday, Oct 16. Elon's post says "next year" and gives no dollar figure.

"Universal Basic Capital"
The pledge came after a thread that started Sunday with Anthropic.
AnthropicAI, Oct 18 at 1:07pm CT: We're committing a portion of Anthropic's shares to the Anthropic Public Benefit Fund, a new wholly owned entity dedicated entirely to the public benefit. The post says the fund will start off with 5% of Anthropic's shares. Anthropic's blog post adds that the 5% is subject to stockholder approval.
Elon replied at 3:16pm CT: I recommend giving the shares directly to the public. Farzad quoted Elon's reply at 4:07pm CT: Trump accounts.
At 7:39pm CT, Elon replied to his own reply: This is what I will be doing.
Farzad quoted that at 8:24pm CT. He wrote that Elon says he'll be giving shares of his companies directly to the public, "most likely through the Trump Account mechanism." Then: "Universal Basic Capital has arrived, folks. We are officially in the future." Less than a minute later, he quoted the Anthropic post: Universal Basic Capital.
Farzad liked both of Elon's replies. The Trump Account route and the Universal Basic Capital label come from Farzad, not Elon. Neither of Elon's replies, nor his Monday pledge, says how the shares would get to people.
IterIntellectus, Oct 19 at 3:07am CT: the beginning of universal basic income. Elon replied two minutes later: *universal high income. Farzad liked Elon's reply.

Tesla sets a Dec 3 meeting
SawyerMerritt, Oct 19 at 8:21am CT: Tesla has officially announced that it will hold its annual shareholder meeting on December 3, 2026.
Sawyer listed three items up for a vote. The first is re-electing Elon Musk, Robyn Denholm and JB Straubel to the board for three-year terms. The second is a non-binding say-on-pay vote on 2025 executive compensation. The summary compensation table in Tesla's proxy filing lists about $158.4 billion in 2025 stock awards for Musk. The third is approving PwC as Tesla's auditor for 2026.
Sawyer added: "There is no mention of any merger with SpaceX in this proxy filing." The filing does mention SpaceX's February acquisition of xAI Holdings, but none of the three proposals involves a Tesla and SpaceX merger.
Farzad RTd it at 8:25am CT. He also liked the post.
The day before, at 2:03pm CT on Oct 18, Farzad asked followers: SpaceX/Tesla merger announcement will be:

What Denholm's letter says
Sawyer's post also includes a letter to shareholders from Tesla board chair Robyn Denholm. She writes that 2026 "has been a year of investment and progress for Tesla."
According to the letter, Tesla did several things this year. It began producing Cybercab at Gigafactory Texas, expanded its Robotaxi service to more U.S. cities and passed 10 million vehicles delivered. It also launched the Tesla Semi and unveiled the Next Gen Roadster.
On energy, the letter cites record deployments out of Megafactory Shanghai and Megapack 3 production at the Megafactory in Texas. It also mentions the Semi factory being built in Nevada and the first production lines for Optimus. It lists more data center capacity to train Tesla's systems for what it calls real-world super intelligence. It also lists battery and chip manufacturing investments, including the Terafab initiative.
Near the end, Denholm asks shareholders to vote FOR the re-election of herself, Elon and Straubel. These are Tesla's claims. The letter in Sawyer's post matches the one in Tesla's Oct 19 proxy filing.

"Perfectly stated!"
ChrisCamillo, Oct 18 at 9:25am CT, on the Tesla Roadster reveal: he called himself "neither a Tesla fanboy nor a Tesla hater" and said he couldn't care less whether what was shown technically qualifies as a flying car. Then he gave three takeaways.
First: "The risk of that live demonstration going horribly wrong was real." He wrote that almost no CEO would expose their company to that kind of public humiliation for a product with so little financial upside. "Elon did."
Second, he said that willingness to attempt the seemingly impossible is what makes Tesla special, and arguably Elon's greatest contribution to America. In his words, Elon has "helped bring back something we've lost. The American spirit of chasing big scary ideas that most people think are impossible." He called this "deeply underappreciated."
Third: "Can we just acknowledge how insanely cool that moment was?" He wrote that extraordinary feats now turn straight into arguments about why they don't count. On the money: "Whether the Roadster ever makes Tesla a dollar or impacts $TSLA stock price is almost beside the point."
Farzad RTd it at 9:28am CT and replied the same minute: Perfectly stated! He also liked the post.

A Grok phone, and Starship
Gene Munster, Oct 18 at 1:51pm CT: Grok is taking over my phone usage.
He wrote that $SPCX apps were 50% of his screen time last week: "Lots of X (but a lot of that is Grok) plus Grok and Grok Bot." His point: "SpaceX could make a phone optimized for Grok at the OS layer that would beat the iPhone for 50%+ of my phone usage."
Farzad RTd it at 3:09pm CT. He also liked the post. The Grok phone is Munster's idea. Nothing in these posts says SpaceX is building one.
TSLAFanMtl, Oct 17 at 11:20pm CT: Ok so yeah... $SPCX has no competition. None. The post said Starship widens the moat considerably more once it becomes SpaceX's mainstream rocket. It ended: "Even the competitor's future plans are behind!"
Elon quoted it Oct 18 at 12:02pm CT: True, even SpaceX's competitor's FUTURE plans are behind Starship. Farzad liked it. The no-competition claim comes from TSLAFanMtl, and Elon agreed with it.

69 degrees and more psychos
Farzad, Oct 18 at 1:25pm CT: My favorite thing about SpaceX's AI satellites in space is that the radiators will probably have to run around 69 degrees Celsius.
The 69 degree figure is Farzad's own estimate, and he hedged it with "probably." The post doesn't show how he got there.
Farzad, Oct 18 at 8:45pm CT: MBAs caused the enshittification of everything. We need more psychos. That's his opinion.
