Farzad: United Airlines CEO Says a Plan to Put Starlink on 65% of the Fleet Became "All-In," Calls Delta Skipping It "a Mistake" + Elon Says 10k Starship Launches a Year Is "Just From Starbase Louisiana"

Tuesday, Farzad RTd two SawyerMerritt posts quoting United Airlines' CEO on Starlink. The CEO says a plan for 65% of the fleet became all-in, and calls Delta skipping Starlink "a mistake." Early Wednesday, Elon said 10k Starship launches a year is just from Starbase Louisiana, and Farzad RTd that too.

United's 65% plan became "all-in"

SawyerMerritt, Tuesday at 9:55am CT: United Airlines CEO in new interview on @Starlink: "We were only going to do 65% of our fleet, but once we put it on our first aircraft, I got these anecdotes saying, 'I'm switching to flying regional 'cause it's got Starlink.' Then I was like, 'Holy cow, we gotta go all-in.'"

Starlink is SpaceX's satellite internet service. On a plane, it's the Wi-Fi. Regional flights are the shorter routes flown on smaller jets. The way the CEO tells it, passengers started choosing those flights because they had Starlink.

The post doesn't name the interview or say where it ran. It also doesn't give a new fleet number for "all-in" or a timeline.

Delta skipping Starlink is "a mistake"

SawyerMerritt, Tuesday at 10:02am CT: United Airlines CEO in new interview on Delta Airlines choosing not to adopt @Starlink: "It's a mistake. I think (Starlink) is the biggest competitive advantage of all time. We are going to have a few years of being the only airline that has it at scale."

"Choosing not to adopt" is how Sawyer's post describes it. The post doesn't say why Delta passed or what it uses instead. "Biggest competitive advantage of all time" is the CEO's opinion. The "few years" as the only airline with it at scale is his forecast, and the post doesn't say how he defines scale or which airlines he's comparing against.

10k Starship launches a year "just from Starbase Louisiana"

Elon Musk, Wednesday at 1:07am CT: 10k Starship launches/year is just from Starbase Louisiana

Elon was quoting xdNiBoR's Tuesday 3:30pm CT post: In a comment to the FAA, SpaceX says it wants to launch 10,000 times per year. The FAA asked for input on where to build new spaceports and how to give rocket launches priority in US airspace. They're preparing for 10,000 launches a year by 2035. SpaceX replied that rockets aren't the bottleneck anymore, the FAA's outdated air traffic processes are. They created their own airspace tool (Cleared) that most major US airlines already get for free. They also noted that Starbase Louisiana is designed for about 30 launches and reentries per day.

The FAA is the Federal Aviation Administration, the US agency that licenses commercial launches and manages US airspace. A spaceport is a launch site. Cleared is SpaceX's airspace tool, per xdNiBoR's post.

xdNiBoR's post names Starbase Louisiana and the about-30-a-day design figure. It does not name Starship. The Starship label comes from Elon. For scale, 10,000 a year is about 27 launches a day, which lines up with that about-30-a-day design.

Farzad liked Elon's post and RTd it Wednesday at 6:55am CT.

"Now you get it."

mikepat711, Tuesday at 3:38pm CT: FSD is so good now that I'd legit take a Farzad over any other car just to have it

"A Farzad" is the original post's wording. FSD (Supervised) is Tesla's driver-assistance software, so the driver still has to pay attention and be ready to take over.

Farzad liked it and RTd it at 3:46pm CT. Seven seconds later he replied: Now you get it.

The FSD take belongs to mikepat711. The reply is Farzad's, and he didn't add anything to it.

"Grok @Bot rocks"

Elon Musk, Wednesday at 2:42am CT: Grok @Bot rocks

Elon was quoting firesidealpha's Tuesday 2:41pm CT post: Gavin Baker says Grok Bot is the most impactful AI product he and his firm have had yet, and reveals he's up to 17 Grok Bots. "I mean, as a user, Grok Bot is the most impactful AI product to me and to the firm that we've had yet. I glued together all this stuff with Claude Code,

The post cuts off there in this pull. The summary is firesidealpha's and the partial quote is Baker's. The post doesn't name Baker's firm, and none of the posts here explain what Grok Bot does.

TeslaLarry, Tuesday at 9:17am CT: Life has become so much better since Grok Bot became part of it!

Farzad liked Elon's post and TeslaLarry's. The firesidealpha post is what Elon was quoting; it is not in Farzad's likes in this pull.

Matic says Serene is 20% quieter

Matic Robots, Tuesday at 2:03pm CT: Quiet just got 20% quieter. Introducing Matic Serene. We've reimagined our vacuum stack from the ground up to make Matic quieter than ever

Matic Robots makes robot vacuums. The 20% figure is the company's own claim. The post doesn't say what it was measured against, or whether Serene is a new robot or an update for existing ones.

Disclosure: Matic is one of Farzad's sponsors.
